How To Remove The Dates From WordPress Themes

If you want to use WordPress for more of a static site that is updated infrequently removing the dates from your theme could come in handy. To remove the date you need to find where the date is referred to in index.PHP and remove that line. It will probably be a line between 2 div tags that refer to a date in some way.

Also remove the date instances in single.PHP and archive.PHP. If you are afraid of removing the wrong thing and ruining your theme. You can use comment tags instead. This will make the lines still readable but whatever is between the tags won’t run.

<?php /* These tags can be used to comment something out in PHP */ ?>

Now for the Good news. I just discovered a Date Exclusion WordPress Plugin over at Daily Blog Tips. This just might be the answer for those of us who don’t feel completely comfortable poking around in our themes code. I haven’t used it yet. But it might be the safer option I’ve been looking for.

  1. This is a superb post because it takes people where they would not normally go. I actually found myself recommending to a couple people this last week that they use WordPress for their websites, because they wanted to put together sites with several categories (like “tags” in WP) and be able to quickly add items themselves. WordPress is the ideal CMS for something like this.

I did not exactly search for a way to do it, since it just crossed my mind. And here I am. Found it without looking!

And at the same time, found an interesting blog. I think I’ll hang around a little longer.

    Thanks!

I Have been looking for all the right answers on this subject and it seems everyone has a opinion or an answer but they most are all different in the explaination. I have looked. They all wanna help but to me its not what I feel is right for me. I really like this site. It is very informative and out of all the sites I have looked at today I like this one. I have also found a really cool site called http://www.rnrstuff.info. It places ads by google in it but he has it filtered to only put the ads that are worth while. I found this site starting from there and though my adventure I found this site you are at now. This site is just right for my help but if you want more just click on one at the site I just mentioned above. Wish you the best of luck on finding your answer. If you believe in God He will get you to the right answer. In you dont believe well you will still get your answer.

I’ve noticed that leaving out the dates seems to be a trend. It makes sense when it comes to certain blogs who don’t want their information to seem out of date. I’ve been wondering how to do it, just in case.

  17. Emma says:

Michelle, I am always flattered when you visit my site. The purpose of not having dates is in case you are creating a niche site and you don’t want to update it very often. I hope you have a fantastic summer. By the way I like the cat project you have been working on.

Wow, this one blew me away. What you get is a ready made website. The website runs automatically, you never have to maintain it or pay monthly hosting fees. I got one and it’s been bringing in around $1000 month for me. I absolutely love it.
    I give Adsense Treasure a score of 5/5 (5 out of 5)

Although we have been friends for a long time, I didn’t want to embarrase myself with my lack of tennis technique. So I decided to get myself a bit of help before our first session. I “kinda” dissapear of the radar for a couple of weeks. The reason, I was training with an amazing series of oline videos on how to learn to play tennis.

To my amazement and his, my first class with him wasn’t bad at all. He immediately noticed that I had had “some help” so he asked what I did. I mentioned the videos, he took a peek and was quite impressed.

I am far from perfection, but I have been doing quite well.
