After being rejected twice, Jane finally gets accepted to The Joplin Ballet School’s Summer Intensive Program. She’ll spend the summer in New York City, dancing with the top high school ballerinas from all over the country. Will she shine and secure a spot in Julliard’s next freshman class? What’s it going to be like dancing with guys for the first time?

When Jane arrives, her anxiety goes haywire. All of a sudden, she has to deal with mean girls, surviving in crazy New York City, the pressure to be the perfect ballerina, along with her very first love interest.

Setting the Barre is a coming-of-age novel discussing the concepts of anxiety, self-identity, confidence, and teen romance. It is appropriate for all ages.
