As the most promising high school baseball prospect that Lawdon, Oklahoma saw in decades, Brady “Crazy Foot” MacArthur didn’t think he needed God’s help in his pursuit of a career in professional baseball. In fact, a drunken father and a mother killed by a senseless disease made Brady question God’s omnipotence and omnibenevolence entirely. But when tragedy strikes again in the fall of Brady’s junior year, he questions not only God’s existence but also the fragile foundations of his own identity and morality. Ironically enough, the tragedy ends up being the very blessing he needs to purge his selfishness, arrogance, and idolatry and reignite the embers of his faith.

The purpose of THE BLESSED ONE is simple: to help teens and athletes grow in their faith with Jesus Christ. While independently reading the novel is beneficial, THE BLESSED ONE makes for a great resource for youth group, class, or team discussion. For group discussion resources, visit sebastian.team.
