Why do fools fall in love?

All Diane Bayer wants is to get out of her small town and see the world, like her new boyfriend, Ken, suggests. Diane met Ken in the library’s Rare Books department. He’s sensitive, mature, upper-middle-class, and working on his PhD in Physics. He has that yuppie vibe. Diane’s mom wants her to bring him home to meet the family, but she’s hesitant. This makes her wonder if she’s ashamed of her working-class parents.

Even if she loves Ken, Diane’s heart does a flip, then a flop, and finally comes to a screeching halt when she sees Bobby, her middle school crush, again. This isn’t supposed to happen. All the old memories come back to her, which makes her want to hide. Most importantly, she cringes at the memory of how she sent him an unsigned card professing her love. She was a mere thirteen then, and learned secrets don’t stay hidden for very long. She vowed to never do anything stupid again.

To complicate things, Diane is forced to take rides to college with her neighbor, Brad, who she hasn’t seen in a few years. Brad likes to tell her like it is according to him, but she knows he does so because he cares.

As luck or fate would have it, Ken breaks off their relationship when Diane’s beliefs clash with his. Soon enough, she meets Bobby again in her small town and sparks fly between them. The only one who doesn’t like Bobby is Brad. Bobby’s secret life breaks Diane’s heart, and then Brad gives her a shoulder to cry on.

Right in the middle of it all, Diane gets a card signed, “from your secret admirer” but who sent it? Ken, Bobby or Brad? The mystery leads her best friends Kim and Lori to hunt for the truth.

Love has a funny way about it, and the heart finds ways to surprise us.

A feel-good Romance, with enough humor and a dash of faith to let love be blind, deaf and dumb as long as Diane ends up with the one.
