Just Compensation

| June 18, 2015

When a town in the Old West comes under attack by a greedy, land grabbing relic of the past, lawman Lucas Wade comes to seek Just Compensation. In this classic western story, the first in the Lucas Wade Western series, Wade uses tough talk, a quick draw, and a deadly aim to draw the line between right and wrong. His attempt to get justice for those who can’t find it for themselves will be clouded by a past love, her jealous husband, and a new taboo infatuation. Can even a hard man like Wade face down a series of known gunslingers, including the gun fight of his life? The Lucas Wade Westerns are not just for those familiar with the genre, but for all readers who love action and the triumph of right over wrong. If you enjoy this read, move right on to Book 2: Gunfighter’s Justice.

This book, Just Compensation, is a quick and fun read—I finished it in three sittings because I didn’t want to put it down. The book is action packed, with a bunch of gunfights and a couple of fist fights. There is an interesting twist where the older lawman Wade, who has sworn off love, becomes infatuated with a young, pretty black girl who is a whore in the town saloon. And, there is also an interesting twist at the end as the rancher gets a taste of his own medicine. I’ll be waiting for the next in the Lucas Wade series.
