John Madden—or Tall Mountain Bear as he is known to his Native American family and fellow veterans—is a photographer, writer, artist, and poet whose work is well known among the working cowboys and Native Americans he photographs. In Through My Eyes—Why Take That Photo? Madden shares his deep love of photography and the Southwest, urging the reader to feel and be involved in the pleasure of taking photographs and portraying the unique stories that accompany each one.

This is not a technical, how-to guide. Through My Eyes—Why Take That Photo? is dedicated to the joy of photography—capturing the story, capturing the moment, and having fun!

  1. The book was informative and enjoyable. I could not put it down. I felt like I got familiar with the author John Madden. He provides insight into awareness of our surroundings and capturing that awareness during a photograph. I will definitely suggest this book to anyone.
