Author Interview with Leonard Birdsong

Professor Birdsong seems never to rest for here he is again out with a new volume of his 147 most favorite dumb criminal stories from his home state of Florida. Having been both a federal prosecutor and later a defense attorney Professor Birdsong knows just how dumb some criminals can be. They can be so dumb as to be outright funny. All the stories are true and it seems that Florida is a special place for dumb criminals.

Think you need to be smart to be a criminal? Think again!   Today I’ve been joined by Professor Leonard Birdsong, the author behind the Dumbest Criminal series, including today’s feature ‘Professor Birdsong’s 147 Dumbest Criminal Stories: Florida’. Leonard, thanks for delving to the depths of dumb with me today. I know that you’re pressed for time today, so we’ll jump right in and find out what keeps drawing you back to document and deliver new dumb criminal exploits to your readers?

I am a law professor and I am expected to research and write academic articles concerning legal matters. My academic writings include Immigration and Refugee Law, as well as, articles concerning Evidence Law and Criminal Law. I write humor books about dumb criminals as a hobby.

With so much writing going on in your life, how do you manage to keep on top of both your professional and personal writing pursuits?

As a law professor I get two research assistants per semester who help me with proofreading and editing of my books.

Editing and writing aside, I’d like to take a look at your personality through the quaint, quirky quick-fire quiz questions. We’ll kick it off with: Are you a valuable asset on a quiz team?

Fantastic, it’s always great to find strong quiz team members! What is your favourite flavor of ice-cream?

I do not eat ice-cream because it clogs one’s arteries.

And I’m sure your arteries are very glad that you are so considerate of them. Are you left or right handed?

Right handed.

What is your zodiac sign?

Welcome fellow water bearer! On the topic of the wild and wet, have you ever danced in the rain?

I’m very glad to hear that! And finally, keeping on the topic of water what is your favourite ocean?

The Caribbean Sea

With the Caribbean being riddled with pirates plundering and pillaging, I can see why that’s your favourite selection. Leonard, thanks for sharing some snippets of the stupid shenanigans you’ve seen through your work in the law, and I hope readers take the opportunity to investigate the Dumb Criminals series.
