I Know Why the Gay Man Dances

| April 22, 2017

‘I Know Why The Gay Man Dances’ is the debut collection of poetry by Mancunian poet, Joel Sadler-Puckering. It is about what happens when the spirit of freedom is taken from us. The loss of freedom comes in many forms and is not just a gay experience; it is an experience shared by many subjugated groups.

These poems will take you on both a personal and political journey to explore the many ways that we, as human beings, might find our freedom compromised in modern life. How does it happen? Why does it happen? And perhaps most importantly, how can we try to understand and overcome it when it does happen?

With a style influenced by Maya Angelou, if you’re a fan of direct poetry and social commentary through verse, this collection will speak to your heart.
