Rocket's Requiem

Like America itself, Launch Director Grissom Oake was doomed at birth by impossible expectations.

Named for an Apollo astronaut who burned to death on the launch pad, Gris has long nursed a profound guilt—the sense he’s betrayed a man who died for the conquest of space, a dream that’s been withering for decades. Along the way he’s dragged others down with him, namely his timid boss and long-suffering fiancée, to say nothing of the poor souls at Mission Control who try to keep him in line.

But now that NASA is dying, Gris must make a choice: mourn quietly or send off his dreams—and demons—with the most spectacular requiem in the history of mankind.
