Charge up your e-reader, clear your schedule, and put on your best tiara, because these royal bad boys are ready to conquer your heart while making you blush oh so hard. Royally Mine is a sexy collection of bad boy romances featuring HOT royal heroes, brought to you by twenty-two New York Times, USA Today, and international bestselling authors.
Are you in need of a royal romance read? How about twenty-two of them? To take us through these tales of romance in ‘Royally Mine’ I’ve been joined by one of these best-selling contributors, Renee Rose. Renee thanks for joining me today to chat about these romantic royals. In anticipation for our chat today I’ve taken your advice to clear my schedule and don my tiara so we’re all ready to kick back and chat about this romance collection. Can you tell us a little more about the novella you contributed to this project?
My story in the box set, Her Royal Master, is about a young American reporter in Ibiza who takes her Italian model roommate’s place as a call girl on a yacht with the prince of Halsburg for a scoop. The prince’s cousin, Darius, calls her bluff and claims her as his own, keeping her prisoner in his room to prevent her from writing about the prince.
It’s a shame the prince’s cousin called her bluff because it sounds like awesome fun to hang out on yachts. Have you been privileged enough in the past to be one of those yachts before?
Alas, I have never been on a yacht with a group of playboy royals, but there’s still time!
*Laughs* Thank goodness for that! That’s an experience you wouldn’t want to miss out on! As you haven’t been lucky enough to base this tale from your own life, can you tell us a little about what sparked ‘Her Royal Master’?
I love the idea of bad boy royals–young rakish playboys who get their hearts handed to them on a platter by the heroine.
How did the complexities of character behind these rakish playboys and heroines come to life?
The characters started talking to me the moment Sue Lyndon proposed the concept for a “royal bad boy” box set.
With a royal bad boy box set you’d have all of the rakish playboys you could want! As you started out with the knowledge that this tale would have to fit into the ‘Royally Mine’ collection, how did you approach the story’s development? Did you start with your own rakes and heroines and allow the story to flow from their personalities, or did you start from a situation that would fit with the rest of the collection and continue your character development from there?
I had the scenario in mind first, so the personalities were shaped by the plot in this case.
Was research an important key of the story development to ensure those personalities and plot would fit well within the romance collection?
I do love to research, but this story was primarily fantasy.
And there’s nothing wrong with a little romantic fantasy. What parts of the fantasy did you fall in love with?
I adored the characters, especially Darius, the Devil Duke.
And aside from those wonderfully warm feelings from reading a tale with characters like Darius, the Devil Duke, what do you hope readers take from this romance?
Love requires risk. The characters both shrink from that risk at first, sticking to their old patterns and stories. Only after they’ve lost each other do they realize their mistakes.
Were there any risks that you felt you didn’t challenge when you were writing this novella? Would you change anything if you could approach it again?
I would write it full length — but we had a strict word limit for this one, since it’s a 22-book box set.
That’s the problems with novellas at times. Sometimes the story is just so good you want to see more of it! No matter, I’m sure you can explore a similar romance in your next writing project. What’s next on the cards for you?
I’m releasing a billionaire shifter book Alpha’s Temptation this week and starting the second book in the series, an MC shifter book Alpha’s Danger.
There’s lots of new romance there! Good luck with both your release and new instalment. You should be busy for a while sharing those new adventures with readers. What about writing keeps drawing you back to sharing these adventures?
I’ve always had stories in my head, dying to be told.
Do you avidly document each of these tales that are dying to get out before you can dedicate the time to each of them?
Yes!
*Laughs* Very enthusiastic about your note taking! I like it! As you’re a keen documenter, do you always note down the ending before you start, or do you let the ending appear as you write?
I’m currently working on Her Mate and Master, a sci fi book and I don’t yet know how it ends!
Okay, so you’re relaxed enough to start the writing journey without a clear destination. To make sure that you don’t get distracted along the way, do you have any rituals to get you into the writing mindset?
I aim for a word goal every day (don’t always make it, but I always try).
Let’s go a little deeper into those days where you try and just can’t get past the writer’s block. How do you get unstuck?
I like to read other authors I love, see a movie or go for a walk.
I love that idea of taking some time out and reading writers you love to recharge your literary batteries. And when the batteries are recharged and the tale is down on paper, how does editing unfold?
I always edit my books before I sent to beta readers and the editor.
Are you lucky enough to be a full time writer who can return to the words when your beta readers and editors are pouring over your work?
Yes, I am a full-time author, but I also see a few clients a week in my Feldenkrais practice.
Yay! I love it when writers can write full time! As someone who has dedicated their time to a full time writing, what advice can you share for those who might not be ask privileged with their number of writing hours?
Write what moves you.
And by reviewing your work it’s clear to see that you’ve been moved by love and romance. Well, we’ve successfully moved through the routes of romance to arrive at the final section of the interview, the quick fire question round. Let’s kick off the fun with: what is your zodiac sign?
Pisces
What is your favourite ocean?
Pacific
What is your favourite flavor of ice-cream?
Coffee
Yum! What is your favourite word?
Love
And finally, before I let you return to the world of romantic fantasy can you share your favourite line of love from Her Royal Master.
“You belong to me now.”
Ooooooh, it sounds like her royal master knows what’s his! Renee thanks for sharing a little of the romance of royals from within ‘Royally Mine’ with the audience and myself today.
