The Journeyer and the Pilgrimage for the Origin of Magic

“The Journeyer and the Pilgrimage for the Origin of Magic” chronicles the adventures of Gai Laguna and his trusty dragon ally, Gimchi. Their mission, given by their sensei, is no less than to find the origin of magic itself, a force potent enough to combat the destructive power of Nae, who has torn a void in the sky. Their path is guided by ancient bonfire stories that lead them towards primordial essences of extreme magical potency. However, gathering these essences is not without peril or ethical quandaries. Through their struggles and triumphs, Gai learns to embody the purpose and meaning of each essence.

Throughout their journey, they commune with the spirits of fallen champions in the hero’s graveyard, discover magical weapons that sprout from the earth, and converse with deities that can raise entire cities into the air. Meanwhile, their world teeters on the brink of oblivion as Nae’s sky void devours more of Arkadia’s history and people. Can Gai and Gimchi harness the origin of magic in time to save their world from an apocalyptic fate? Embark on this journey of courage, wisdom, and magical discovery to find out.

Meet Dana Ladell

Dana Ladell is a lifelong resident of the great state of Texas. She has been married 31 years and has four beautiful children, almost all grown. Two dogs, four cats, and a horse make up the furry component of her family. Her fur baby is a little tortoiseshell, Bristle, and she loves her VERY much.

Dana began her writing career in grade school, scribbling stories in her spiral notebooks instead of notes. After almost two decades in the field of education, her stories finally became too insistent to no longer be heard. When her stories abate tapping on her brain for a moment, she enjoys curling up in a warm blanket with Bristle to read a book, listening to music, or getting away somewhere remote to escape the bustle of civilization. Some of her favorite authors are Anne McCaffrey, Anne Rice, and Robert Jordan.

Resistor (Ellinor, 1)

Ellinor Rask has wanted one thing for the past eight years: vengeance. But when Ellinor is captured, she finds herself dragged back into the world she walked away from, entangled once more with friends she would rather forget.

As if that weren’t humiliating enough, Ellinor learns first hand that her magic can be stripped away by a piece of bio-tech—and her ex-boss is happy to leash her with the technology in order to get what he wants. If Ellinor behaves, the device will be removed. All she has to do is deliver a package. One containing a creature created from raw magical energy and discarded technology. Simple, right?

But when her goals start getting people murdered, Ellinor has to decide if the year’s planning, her honor, and even her own magic, are worth the lives it’s costing. Dodging ruthless gangsters, she finds herself on the run with a creature of immeasurable magical abilities alongside her one-time friends. Now, Ellinor must relearn to trust the people she once abandoned. She must put her faith in technology, and her life in the hands of independent contractors, all while racing to deliver the package before it gets taken by force, or worse, the creature decides to make an appearance itself.
