Little Red is making friends

Squirrel life at Grandma’s house in the forest clearing is cozy, serene, and pretty uneventful, so why don’t we get our capes and set out on a fruit hunt?! Together with Grandma, Red embarks on a spirited adventure. Along the way she eats delicious blueberries, helps a blue jay build her nest, and befriends a pack of wolves (yes, you read that right, not one wolf but a pack). In this book inspired by Little Red Riding Hood, lively illustrations reminiscent of watercolor are woven with the right amount of text to tell a captivating and touching story about playfulness, compassion, and making friends. Psst, I’ll let you in on a secret. There are 32 butterflies spread throughout the illustrations of this book, can you find them all?

Meet Alina Manolache

After spending a decade building a career in an unrelated field, Alina decided to leave it all behind and pursue her dream of becoming a children’s book illustrator, hoping to spread joy and positivity to younger and older readers alike. Since a traditional art education was out of reach, Alina relied on her self-drive to develop the abilities needed to express on the page the feelings and stories she dreamed of sharing with others. Alina’s love for fairy tales, watercolor painting, and animals is readily apparent in her first book “Little Red is making friends”, which she wrote, illustrated, and self published. In her debut work, the visually stunning illustrations combined with her storytelling evoke undeniable feelings of joy and compassion. Alina brings ideas to life from her home in Romania where she lives with her husband, and if she’s not writing or illustrating, she’s reading mystery and fantasy novels.

The Swish

“Properly interesting – a teen novel about creativity, confidence and upcycling clothes. About time!” – Dawn French Screw waiting for life to hand me a fairytale… I’m gonna earn it! Kat is broke. Bullied by ‘mean girls’, blanked by her cool boy crush, and trapped between her warring parents, she has one escape: to sew. From scraps and cast-offs, she creates gorgeous designs she models for her mates down their dingy backstreet. But when her parents can’t afford the heating bills, dare Kat sew her own gown for the Winter Wonderland Ball? Or will the haters rip her to shreds? The Swish is a funny, honest story of one girl’s attempt to transform herself through hard work, creative cheek and the flash of a needle. Turning rags to (kinda!) riches, can ‘alley Kat’ storm the catwalk – and rock the ball? Free to download from Friday the 28th of July until midnight on the 1st of August 2023!

Sustainable fashion is a hot topic for today’s media. But while celebs trips over themselves to appear ethical on the red carpet, Tash wants to inspire teenagers to do it for themselves. At a time when we’re all learning to do more with less, she hopes Kat’s funny, feel-good story will empower readers: work hard, and you can be your own label (whatever that looks like). Tash plans to put a healthy chunk of book revenue towards funding her fashion upcycling workshops for cash-pressed kids and young carers, and has already started work on the sequel. Meet Laura Pruett

Laura Pruett began her writing career at the ripe age of approximately three years old by signing her name in her books. She soon advanced to writing random words on doors and, eventually, kindergarten stories about a Santa Claus she had never been taught existed (this time, on normal notebook paper). By the time she finally entered college classes, she would answer the introductory “If you could do any career that you wanted, what would it be?” question with, “I would like to edit dictionaries.” That said, although she minored in English, she majored in psychology, a degree which she obtained in 2003. Years later, in 2011, she began working as a freelance writer and editor on a site once called Elance (now Upwork). Because she preferred editing to writing, she soon eliminated the writing portion from her offered services and focused on editing–including GoFundMe pages, personal memoirs, fiction stories, self-help books, scientific reports, financial reports, and so much more. After years of editing others’ works and encouraging her husband, Michael C. Sahd, to publish his, Laura decided to finally contribute some of her own to the reading world. As of 2023, she has published two children’s picture books, The Dwarves Of Dimmerdown and My First Book Of Strangers: The People I Don’t Know. Currently, in addition to writing A World Apart, Gedra Gets a Man, and To Catch A Fish, she is working on another super-secret Kindle Vella novel, under a pen name. If you’re interested, here’s a one-word hint: Dwarves. Look around and see what you can find!

Tales of Splendania – A Golden Wish

Dive into the beautiful and magical Kingdom of Splendania! This is the first book in the new fantasy adventure series for children age 8+, and fans of How To Train Your Dragon, Earthsea and The Wizards of Once.

“This book reminded me of Aesop’s Fables in that the world-building is in-depth and vivid, and there are a lot of fantastical elements. Including a sword imbued with magical power and pixies leaving breadcrumbs for an enthused Vanadae, which is especially interesting because the story alludes to a big magical future for the princess.

Tales of Splendania: A Golden Wish is an entertaining and magic-filled read that promises more excitement in later books.” – Rosie Wylor-Owen, Author of The Rogue Valkyrie Series

About The Story

In this ancient and mystical land, the most marvellous and dangerous magical creatures roam the lands and skies. The beautiful and valiant Princess Vanadae must find a way to protect her beloved Golden Unicorn from the most dangerous creatures of them all — the people of Splendania themselves. All of whom are completely hellbent on capturing and killing magical creatures, the Golden Unicorn most of all.

Vanadae must find and protect the majestic Golden Unicorn before Magnus the Mighty, her father and the High-King of Splendania becomes the first to slay this wondrous creature and ensure his rule over the three realms; Theos, Valastry and Ovamthia.

Will the Golden Wish, granted once in a lifetime to the members of the royal family, cause the malevolent Witch of the Woods to come out of hiding and continue her vengeance against the royal families of Splendania? Will the courage of Vanadae’s brother, Prince Galderon, protect her from the dangers in the Spellbound Woods and set them on a path to fulfil their destinies?

This debut novel from T.O. Griffiths is perfect for all the family to enjoy together.

The sequel, Tales of Splendania: A Heart of Ice, is coming soon.

Recent Reviews:

“This book is so creative and the author really does have a way with his words! His descriptive writing leads your imagination through a magical journey of fantastical monsters, intriguing characters and marvellously enchanting kingdoms – it kept me fully engaged and eager for the next line, page and chapter. The only downside to this book is that there’s not more of it. Engrossed from the off and already yearning for the second book. Seriously well done T.O Griffiths!” 5/5

“Absolutely loved this book, I love fantasy so I bought this book for myself, but I’ll definitely be buying it again for a friend’s daughter! Looking forward to the next one!” 5/5

“My daughter tried everything to get out of reading her books. Since she was given this book everything changed. This book is a great fantasy book, captured her imagination and she reads it every night before bed. Lovely to see her enjoying what she is reading and showing this much interest. The book itself has over 100 pages, we choose the paperback version, the letters are large so it’s easier to read for beginners and the pages aren’t white but in ecru colour which we much prefer. The story is very engaging and lets imagination loose. The wording is smart and for everyone who loves unicorns, dragons and fantasy this is a top-shelf book not only for the little ones! Definitely highly recommend to all my friends and family to get one as totally worth to get one!” 5/5

“My 2 kids loved the book and were disappointed that it had to end – hoping for a follow-up edition soon – highly enjoyable and helped their reading too!” 5/5

Meet T.O. Griffiths

Born and raised on a beautiful farm overlooking the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons on the border of Wales and England, T.O. Griffiths grew up fascinated by animals, sharks most of all. He was lucky enough to be surrounded by farm animals – including the magnificent peacocks – and a stunning view. As a boy, he used to write short stories and poems, somewhat inspired by Alice in Wonderland.

With a large collection of swords, axes and armour himself, his fascination with weaponry has helped inspire certain characters T.O. Griffiths has created in Splendania.

With a busy job and life moving forward, time to focus and complete the book became a labour of love for T.O. Griffiths, but something he was determined to accomplish.

The story coming into existence was completely spontaneous; he was asked to make up a bedtime story for his girlfriend to help her sleep. It was not helpful, however, as he was then up all night, writing it down instead of finishing the story for her, until now.

Tales of Splendania had been rattling around T.O. Griffiths’ head for many years and the story evolved and swayed this way and that, and now, he is extremely excited to share it with you and hopes you enjoy it as much as he has enjoyed creating the World of Splendania.
