The Corporate Kindergarten: Welcome to the world of Kidults!

A thought-provoking examination of corporate practices. Have you ever looked around at work and thought, “What a whole lot of bullshit!” I am sure you have many times. At least once a week. Every day! Unfortunately, that thought remains with you because nobody speaks up, so we continue the old ways of doing things, making us ineffective & disengaged. To mitigate our pain, HR acts as a decoy, luring us into believing that we are in a fun, progressive, and caring environment by giving us slides, ball pits, team-building games, celebrations, free coffee & food, accommodation, and a cinema voucher in exchange for hundreds of hours of unpaid overtime. “A few hundred years from now, when we look back at the history and evolution of the workforce, this will be known as “The era of corporate bullshit” or “The era of corporate kidults.” 50 years ago, people imagined that in the future, we would have cool techs such as flying cars and 3D holograms of ourselves to attend appointments and stuff. Instead, we have remote team buildings with guacamole spread competitions, lama colouring, sack races, and $20 gift vouchers for being the fastest in moving toilet rolls from one table to another (Yup, I had to play that one once).” Traditional HR and organisational practices don’t work in a world where everything changes constantly. This book provides every corporate folk out there with specific examples of outdated and often ridiculous practices and presents practical solutions to address those. Szilvia Olah is on a mission to help organisations eliminate such practices and create a mature, adultlike work environment where individuals, especially leaders, are accountable for their performance and behaviour. Szilvia is an organisational psychologist who spent 19 years in the corporate environment. Through her company, The Strengths Company, based in Dubai, she challenges leaders to think differently and adapt their practices to suit the changing needs of employees.

Meet Szilvia Olah

I’m an organisational Psychologist who spent 19 years in the corporate environment. I help develop positive, effective work environments that support employee success, and organisational productivity, by focusing on making a strong match between employees and their roles. As a Gallup strengths coach, I help people and teams do what they do best every day to improve their quality of work & life outside of work. Strengths coaching is about identifying individuals’ natural talent – strengths – and focusing on developing those further instead of fixiating their weaknesses. Using Gallup’s Strengths tools, I develop my understanding of their natural talent, and then I use that to guide them to discover and capitalize on what they do best. I am like Nanny McPhee; When you need me, but do not want me, then I must stay. When you want me, but no longer need me, then I have to go. My top 5 personal strengths are Intellection, Learner, Input, Responsibility, and Discipline. My dominant group strengths are Influencer & Equalizer

Approaching Improv – Communication and Connection in Business and Beyond

We all like to think of ourselves as active listeners, open to considering another’s perspective in order to successfully collaborate toward shared goals. Why, then, when we look around, do we see countless examples crying out to the contrary? Why do we so often find ourselves struggling to effectively communicate at work, at home, or in social settings. Why do we struggle to hear and be heard, in spite of that being precisely what we all desire?

What if there was a simple, yet flexible, format through which we could improve not only our listening skills, but our ability to successfully ask for and get what we want? Perhaps it could even invoke our creativity and imagination, making it a fun experience instead of a dreaded one?

Enter stage right: The Improv Approach.

The Improv Approach takes the principles of improv comedy and applies them to everyday interactions, empowering you to navigate even difficult conversations with an ease that without such a strategy too often proves anything but mutually satisfying, and sometimes simply impossible.

While written primarily with business leaders in mind, Approaching Improv’s relatable, direct technique to teaching the “Improv Approach” makes it an indispensable resource for professionals and non-professionals alike.

Using the Improv Approach, you will learn:

  • The foundational principles of improv comedy, including but not limited to the “yes, and” technique, and how they can be implemented to make you a better boss, employee, family member, and friend.
  • To face your fears so you can successfully and repeatedly put the Improv Approach concepts into practice, even if you’re not a performer.
  • Common communication mistakes most people aren’t aware they’re making and how to solve them.
  • How to increase your empathy and understanding, even when dealing with difficult people and situations.
  • To open the door to healthy communication so the people in your life trust they can tell you the truths you need to hear.

Early Praise:
“Had this book been available 25 years ago, my personal library of leadership, communication, and healthy relationship resources would be much, much, smaller! Caitlin’s use of relatable stories, data, and humor to amplify key concepts made it feel as though I was having a conversation with my own personal mentor as I read each chapter. What I found to be the most powerful aspect of the Improv Approach Caitlin outlines, is that it is a mindset that can be applied towards every aspect of my life; from family and friends, to customers and staff.”

OBEDIENCE TO THE HOLY SPIRIT: Calling on The Name of The Lord

When a man desires to call on the name of the Lord, he may not understand why calling on the name of the Lord is intended for ministers of the Lord who are doing His will. A person who calls on the name of the Lord without the privilege of being in His service may unknowingly call on the name of the enemy. This book is a conversation between me and the Lord on what it means to call on the name of the Lord.

Meet Maurice Paul Obonyo

I have a calling to go into the world and proclaim the second coming of the Lord Jesus. I have been in the Lord’s presence for over three years now. He has commissioned me to teach and speak about His love for man. The Lord has enabled me write nine books so far. I have a goal to write a particular number of books which the Lord spoken to me about. The books I have written have come out of the Lord’s presence. I have received a wealth of knowledge and understanding from God as I have been writing. I was a graphic designer by the time the Lord called me. He told me to stop whatever I was doing and do His will.
