Meet Liz Shipton

Part-time author 🪶⚓ Full-time pirate Hi! I’m Liz. I’m a freelance writer, indie author, and full-time, off-grid, live-aboard sailor. I’m currently sailing around the world with my boyfriend and my dog, turning my real-life adventures into YA Sci-Fi and Fantasy books. My debut fiction series, Thalassic, is based on my own experience sailing from California to Panama. It’s about two friends who are forced to sail across a dangerous ocean in a post-apocalyptic, high-tech dystopia. Along the way, they fight pirates, rescue a dog, run from a shadow government, and (of course) fall in love ❤️ I love incorporating the incredible experiences, beautiful places, and fascinating people I encounter on my travels into my work. Many parts of the world are underrepresented in fiction, particularly speculative fiction, and I feel grateful to be able to explore them, both physically and in writing. In addition to exploring the world, I like to explore themes surrounding mental health, addiction, technology and climate change in my books. When I’m not penning YA novels about the impending apocalypse, I work as a freelance content writer specializing in articles about code (I used to be a software engineer), music theory (I also used to be a musician), and off-grid living/digital nomading. On the rare occasion I’m not writing, you can find me swimming, hiking, telling my dog I love her for the bazillionth time today, or watching Taskmaster.

Meet Millie Copper

Millie Copper, writer of Cozy Apocalyptic Fiction and preparedness mentor, was born in Nebraska but never lived there. Her parents fully embraced wanderlust and moved regularly, giving her an advantage of being from nowhere and everywhere.

Millie Copper lives in the wilds of Wyoming with her husband and young son, tending chickens and attempting a food forest on their small homestead. After living off the grid for several years, they’ve recently gone back on the grid. Four adult daughters, three sons-in-law, and five grandchildren round out the family.

Since 2009, Millie has authored articles on traditional foods, alternative health, homesteading, and preparedness-many times all within the same piece. Millie has penned seven nonfiction, traditional food focused books, sharing how, with a little creativity, anyone can transition to a real foods diet without overwhelming their food budget.

The twelve-installment Havoc in Wyoming and six-installment Montana Mayhem Christian Post-Apocalyptic fiction series use her homesteading, off-the-grid, and preparedness lifestyle as a guide. The adventures continue with the upcoming Dakota Destruction series.

See These Bones: A Post-Apocalyptic Superhero Novel

Now a 2020 Readers’ Favorite Gold Medal Winner in the Fiction – Dystopia genre!

Some superheroes want to save the world. Damian is just hoping to save himself.

In the post-Break world of superpowers, necromancy is the one gift nobody wants. Everyone knows what happens to Crows; they go mad and they go bad. That’s the story of infamous mass murderers like Crimson Death, Gravedigger, and Sally Cemetery. It’s also the story of David Jameson, an otherwise unremarkable man who came home one day and killed his wife, orphaning their five-year-old son, Damian.

Thirteen years later, Damian has inherited more than just grey eyes and a beak of a nose from his father. He too is a Crow, doomed to become a killer unless he can find a way to avoid the violent madness endemic to his powers. When a Finder offers enrollment at Los Angeles’ Academy of Superheroes, he jumps at the chance, believing training could be the key to changing his fate. His classmates despise him, the majority of his teachers want him expelled, and his mom’s ghost hasn’t said a word since reappearing when he was nine, but Damian isn’t the kind to give up. He’s going to take control of his destiny or die in the process.

It’s that or end up like his father.

See These Bones is a post-apocalyptic, superhero, coming-of-age ghost story… with expletives.

Shadow & Blood

The world has been thrown into chaos. People have lost their families. They’ve lost their homes. They’ve lost everything they hold dear. And worst of all, no one is going to save them. When a new, deadly variant of COVID-19 emerges, COVID-X, the world is unprepared for its devastating consequences. Families are torn apart as those infected descend into a frenzied state of rage, barbarity, and bloodlust. The infected become known as Shadow Seekers, and for now, there is no cure. The Shadow Seekers are brutal, savage creatures of the night, devoid of humanity and slaughtering anyone they come across, even their loved ones. Blood & Shadow follows two families on opposite sides of the globe, as the world descends into chaos and madness. The Wu family live in a dilapidated, cramped building in the heart of the initial outbreak, the city of Wuhan. They must form a coalition with their neighbors to protect themselves from the Shadow Seekers which are appearing all around them. The Campbell family lives in an affluent neighborhood of New Jersey where they experience a new reality of danger and horror. They must confront violent, bloodthirsty Shadow Seekers as they attempt to force their way into their home. As the families fight for their lives, they must also face the grim reality of a world on the brink of collapse. Will they be able to overcome the dangers of the virus and the Shadow Seekers, or will they succumb to the darkness that threatens to engulf them? Each chapter sees the world spiral more and more out of control with increasing levels of disorder, terror, and carnage. In the end few remain as the Shadow Seekers overrun the populations of many major cities, and whoever is left must do whatever they can to survive. Will the world be able to stop the spread of this deadly virus before it’s too late? There is no end in sight, no light at the end of the tunnel, only heartbreak and ruin. Yet, humanity fights on and maintains hope, for now.

Heirs of BjornsGaard ~

A thousand years ago, on the Day of Cataclysm, the world changed. Mountains rose from plains, continents fell into oceans, colossal tempests obliterated civilizations, and jotun, creatures of legend and superstition, rose up. The New Ice Age began, blanketing the world in snow and an army of draugr, dead warriors, walked the earth destroying every remnant of the old age.

From the ashes, the Church and the Clan BjornsGaard united humanity behind their banners, rallying knights and heroes to face this new world. Under their leadership, mankind overthrew the draugr and retook control of its destiny.

In the centuries since, the Church grew into an empire, controlling most of the continent. Though its origins were noble, the Church State grew based on greed, racism, and slavery. Only two militant orders of knights, the Hospitalars and the Tau, allied with the islands of the BjornsGaard Commonwealth stood against the Church States expanding pogroms. But during the intervening years, the Kings of BjornsGaard had grown corrupt and weak. In one night, the entire family was assassinated, opening the way for the Church to expand spreading its suppression and holocaust.

But in BjornsGaard’s farthest northern island, hope is dawning. In the Hospitalar’s Northern Compound five orphans, physically and intellectually gifted and trained by the Hospitalar knights to fight, to heal, and to reason, grow up together. With a bond tighter than normal siblings and forged stronger by pain and loss, these five will grow to challenge the Church State and accept their destiny as leaders in this new age.
