What She Ran From – the ATM Skim Scam

What she ran from was brutality and certain death. Not from the hands of an abusive lover, but from her equally sadistic employers. Tara Lipton discovered a secret hidden in the ATM software code of the units produced by the company she worked for. This US subsidiary of an eastern European company skimmed tiny amounts of cash from customer accounts at random so it would remain undetectable. She tested her suspicions, and that’s when it all came crashing down around her. Corporate goons from overseas brutalized her coworkers to find out who stole cash from their skim scam. After Tara pointed to a hack attack on the company servers, she decided it was time to run. Her employers torched the internet cafes her engineered hack pointed to, and they planted the body of a dead hooker in her former condo. They wanted the police to find the runaway for them, and then they would snatch her up and make her talk. But did all this happen by accident? Bert Barton, an old school private investigator and bounty hunter, saves the runaway woman from a different fate with even more horrible consequences. He intervenes on a train platform as a street hustler or pimp uses force to coerce the at-risk woman to go with him against her will. And so begins the strange partnership between a man who only wanted to help a damsel in distress and a woman with more than one dark secret. Bert helps Tara, on the run as Lara Tipton, and gets an old FBI friend to help investigate her former employers. As the investigation continues, so does this enigmatic woman’s infatuation with the PI who rescued her. Everything comes to an explosive conclusion as Tara Lipton’s darkest secret comes to light, while Bart Barton, FBI Agent Jack Riley, and others try to sort out the truth about their mysterious runaway.

Meet Robert Gaspari

I am a lifelong resident of the eastern PA/Philadelphia area. I also spent three years in the US Army stationed up and down the east coast. I am a fan of anything quirky, off-beat and unexplained. I now have the time to write after retiring from my career as a buyer of hi-tech electronics for a local manufacturer. I need to get these stories out of my head and down on paper or electronic media. Most of my books to date are all lighthearted fiction-fantasy-romance-science fiction and it is hard to contain them in any particular genre box since they cross over the lines. And that’s part of my personality, too. I don’t always color between the lines and writing accords a freedom to do as you wish, not as you’re told. I hope you enjoy reading my creative labors as much as I enjoyed writing and presenting them.

A Private Investigator has to Investigate a Very Different Case

This alien invasion tale has a very different premise. Yes, they have xenomorph DNA, but they were indigenous to Earth. This adventure gets much deeper than the normal.

Daedalus Platinum was a private investigator for children who never received their child support. The reason for his diligence was his father died before he was born, and his mother died during his childbirth. This made him an immediately orphaned only child. His parents never got a chance to care for him, so why should a living neglectful parent have that choice?

One day his police contact sopped helping him. He found out why. There was a much more important police matter at hand. People were being disintegrated!

Detective Sandoval told him to stay out of it, but if this disturbance was stopping his only lead giver, he had to participate. He had to get his leads in order to eat.

What he discovered went way deeper than a routine murder case. The people were being disintegrated by aliens! Well, not aliens. Xenomorph/human hybrids was more appropriate.
